Imagine the aroma of freshly made tacos mingling with the buzz of productive tax assistance sessions—this was the innovative recipe for our highly anticipated “Tacos & Taxes” events. The concept was simple yet powerful: provide a warm, inviting atmosphere where people could enjoy a meal while IRS-certified tax preparers ensured they claimed every credit due and got the maximum refund.

The results? A huge success! By tax day, GSO hosted 21 dedicated “Tacos & Taxes” gatherings. These events were more than just about good food—they were a celebration of community, financial awareness, and collaborative success.

• $1 million in refunds expected back in Californians’ pockets from Tacos & Taxes events, including state and federal credits.
• 1,500 individuals assisted with tax filing.

• 75 volunteers provided over 130 hours of outreach.
• 1,109 tax returns processed by dedicated AmeriCorps members.
