Wildfire Resources
January 11, 2025Our hearts and thoughts go out to everyone affected by the recent, historically devastating wildfires throughout Los Angeles. Many of the partners we work with to fight poverty and help our communities have been and will continue to be affected and we cannot imagine what they and so many other Angelenos are facing. As a nonprofit dedicated to ending poverty, we know the impact that something like this disaster can have on people already struggling. We have gathered a list of resources and relief funds available to anyone affected on our website. We will continue to offer assistance in any way we can.

Misfortune and Calamity Tax Relief. You may be eligible for tax relief if your property is damaged or destroyed by a calamity, such as fire or flooding. To qualify, you must file an Application for Reassessment: Property Damaged or Destroyed by Misfortune or Calamity (ADS-820) with the Assessor’s Office within 12 months from the date the property was damaged or destroyed. The loss must exceed $10,000 of current market value. In addition, if your property was substantially damaged or destroyed by a Governor-declared disaster, Prop. 19 provides for your property’s tax base to be transferred to a comparable property within the same county or another county in California.
