Tell Your Reps: Support more funding for anti-poverty programs!
Thanks to your support, we’ve convinced the state legislature to take one more look at the funding for the outreach programs that underpin the CalEITC, the Young Child Tax Credit, and the Foster Youth Tax Credit and make them so successful at addressing poverty in California.
These programs are absolutely critical to helping struggling families across California afford the soaring costs of everyday basic necessities like food, housing, and child care. That’s why it was so disappointing to see the official budget for the year cut outreach funding for these programs by a staggering 50% from recent years.
While most of the budget negotiations are final, we have one more opportunity to restore part of this critical funding. Legislators are currently working on a bill that could add an additional $2 million for Free Tax Preparation and CalEITC Education and Outreach funding.
Contact your representatives and urge them to support an additional $2 million for Free Tax Preparation and CalEITC Education and Outreach funding. This money would make a world of difference for millions of people across the state who depend on these anti-poverty programs to make ends meet.
